KLCC, A Mall to Beat Them All

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Visiting Malaysia and wondering where to go for a good bout of shopping? Suria KLCC, Malaysia’s premier shopping mall right at the foot of the world’s tallest twin towers, is just the place to be. Set in the heart of the Golden Triangle, it offers a comprehensive mix of tenants from services, fashion, entertainment, arts and culture to local delicacies and international gourmets, spread over six spacious floors.

We spent a whole day at Suria KLCC to experience what the shopping mall had to offer and here are our favourite picks. Designer brands Suria KLCC is a haven for designer brands. You name it, and Suria KLCC is most likely to have it. Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Coach, Cartier, Tiffany & Co. – these brands are all available here. Most of the high fashion labels and international prestige brands are housed on the Ground and First Level floors. There are quite a few designer brands that are exclusive to Suria KLCC. These include Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Brioni, Giorgio Armani, Paul Smith, Max Mara, Max & Co, Marc Jacobs, Blumarine, Moschino, Vilebrequin and Pucci. Our favourite is Jimmy Choo, the super iconic luxury shoe brand that had Carrie Bradshaw of Sex & the City living on bread and water for a week to buy a pair. Enter the sprawling 70 sq metre lilac-toned boutique and you will be greeted by satin display panelling, leather sofas and crystal drop chandeliers that were carefully designed by Tamara Mellon (the President of Jimmy Choo) to create a 40s inspired boudoir. Indulge in their intricate shoes and handbags in soft leather, luxurious suede and glittering metals that are favoured by many international stars and elegant women all across the world.

Asian inspired

If Asian themes strike your fancy, then iconic multi-brand boutique Aseana will most likely carry it as it offers fashion that is ASEAN inspired, made in Asia, by ASEAN designers, or simply made with ASEAN elements. Among the innovative brands it carries are Farah Khan (Malaysia), Ghea (Indonesia), Dorian Ho (Hong Kong), Herve Leger (USA), Arcangel (UK) and La Perla (Italy). Aseana remains authentic to heritage staples such as batik, handcraftsmanship and detailed Asian embellishments. It has three main divisions – Aseana Fashion, Aseana Batik and Aseana CaféBar. Black and white is the dominant colour scheme, with tinges of elegant gold. We like the ASEAN inspired motifs that are used to divide sections as well as the innovative way Thai silks, batik prints and other signature Asean fabrics are used in the lamps, cushions and walls.

Craft & Deco

For interior designing inspirations or to pick up a unique artefact, Ombak is an interesting outlet that is worth a visit. A favourite with foreigners and out-oftowners, Ombak’s exterior is warm and earthy, extending a friendly welcome to visitors while the interior is surrounded by a brilliant blend of colours mingled with traditional artefacts such as congkak sets. Two things you need to know about the shop. Firstly, around 90% of their products are handmade, many by indigenous people. Hence, they are all unique. You cannot buy two hardwood bowls that are exactly alike. Secondly, there are, at the most, usually only two items of each type for sale so something you like there today might be gone the next. Another shop worth checking out is Asia Moon, offering custom-made jewellery and crafts from the Asian region.

Beauty & Wellness

Tired after a full day of shopping? Treat yourself at AsterSpring Origin of Beauty’s flagship outlet that offers a vast array of fine, luxurious facial and body treatments. Apart from the beauty treatments, AsterSpring features a spacious yoga studio, an interactive product play area complete with wi-fi facilities, sauna rooms and a Living Juice Bar. Try their signature smoothie, AsterSpring Beauty which is freshly blended with red dragonfruit chunks and cucumber boosted with Skin Radiance, as you relax at their comfortable garden view lounge overlooking the city.

Services

Promoted

“Roving Concierge” is an innovative service introduced by Suria KLCC where a team of concierge personnel patrols each floor to assist customers in need. Suria KLCC is the first to introduce this in Malaysia. The “Roving Concierge” will help you locate your favourite outlet, point you to the direction of the nearest restroom or answer any questions you might have. They also double as personal shopping advisors to customers.

Tourist Privilege Card

The Tourist Privilege Card, extended to all tourists visiting Malaysia, entitles tourists to amazing discounts and exclusive offers when they shop at the participating outlets in Suria KLCC. Application is free and the procedure simple. Just approach the Suria KLCC Concierge Desk and present your ID or Passport. The card, which is valid for a week, will be issued on the spot and the privileges will take effect immediately.
