SkyPark Business Aviation Centre

Nothing more literally represents the height of luxury than flying in a business jet. Being seated in beautiful leather seats, either in a luxurious armchair or spread out on a couch, surrounded by beautiful wood trim and gold plated fixtures, while cruising at a ceiling of 40,000 feet at a speed of nearly 500 KTAS (Knots True Air Speed) or 500 mph, is an experience nearly out of this world.

From such great heights landing can be a letdown, but the Skypark Business Aviation Centre (BAC) is the perfect solution. The BAC is located within the confines of Skypark Terminal which was formerly known as Terminal 3 of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport, Subang that has recently undergone a RM42 million renovation and refurbishment. The BAC has since been reinvented as a corporate and business jet destination for Malaysia and the region. This newly revamped, sleek and sophisticated facility, conveniently located a mere half an hour from Kuala Lumpur, now offers stateof- the-art facilities and world-class services. It caters to local and international visitors, high-net-worth individuals, global corporations and high value investors.

Private jet charter and personal ownership is high in Malaysia, and the BAC in the SkyPark Terminal is a popular destination for those who seek to hanger and maintain their aircraft at an affordable and convenient location. The BAC is managed and operated by SkyPark FBO Malaysia, a joint venture company between Subang SkyPark and Hawker Pacific. The BAC is equipped with a luxurious lounge that serves food and beverages, a corporate meeting room, a gymnasium and even a cigar room.

Carcosa Seri Negara

Originally the residence of the British representative in the colony of Malaya (as it was known before its independence), the house sits high on a hill overlooking the lush gardens and the city beyond. Offering only five suites to privileged guests, massive rooms and the most superb and elegant appointments await those fortunate enough to stay there.

Afternoon tea in the drawing room is an indulgence that should not be missed with fresh jam, cream and scones along with the finest teas. There are actually two mansions on the hilltop, the first being Carcosa, built in 1897 as the official residence of Sir Frank Swettenham. It served as the official residence until the Japanese invasion of Malaya in 1941. The second house, Seri Negara, was originally known as the Governors House when opened in 1913 and served as the guest house to Carcosa. Later known as King’s House, it was renamed Istana Tetamu (Guest’s Palace) in 1957 following independence. In 1989, it was combined with Carcosa to form a hotel Carcosa Seri Negara.

The buildings sit on forty manicured acres of gardens separated by wide grassy expanses. Relaxing on the broad verandah following the high tea, a sense of calm and history pervades the air. To stay at Carcosa Seri Negara is to step back in time to a bygone era, and to experience the presence of the past.
