Auxiliary Policemen to Patrol Shopping Malls in KL

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Four shopping malls in the Klang Valley will use the services of auxiliary policemen, in a bid to tighten security at their premises and car parks. These malls are; Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Pyramid, Tropicana City Mall and Suria KLCC.

Other shopping malls are encouraged to participate by sending their security personnel to be trained as auxiliary policemen. Presently, 92 auxiliary policemen from Public Bank, Tabung Haji and Pavilion have graduated from the police training centre on 9 August 2012, after undergoing nine weeks of basic police training. This is the third batch of auxiliary policemen to graduate from the training centre this year. There are currently 16,173 auxiliary policemen employed by 109 agencies in Malaysia.

Unlike normal security guards, auxiliary policemen are allowed to carry and use firearms, and are also empowered to make arrests.

Expat Go Malaysia would like to advise all expats to be cautious when walking in car parks. For ladies, it is advisable to ask a security guard to escort you to your car, day or night.
