Petrosains is a Science Discovery Centre that uses a fun and interactive approach to tell the story on the wonders of science and how science relates to everything in our world. Its concept and contents revolve mainly around the general sciences with a focus on the science of energy. By providing visitors with engaging activities and imparting imaginative experiences, Petrosains hopes to create wonder and inspire the general public on excitement of learning. Petrosains Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated to extend PETRONAS’s commitment as a socially responsible corporate citizen in providing a rich and stimulating environment aimed to enhance science literacy among visitors.

Petrosains is designed as a modern and contemporary centre that allows visitors to touch, feel and manipulate the exhibits on display. The interactive feature of the Petrosains exhibits, combined with a touch of theatrical and futuristic elements offer visitors a more constructive learning experience. Located on Level 4 of Suria KLCC, the state-of-the-art design of the centre is complemented by thematic props, three-dimensional images, simulation effects, and spectacular recreations with realistic visual and sound effects. While committed in delivering world class customer experience, Petrosains also strives to provide strategic and impactful offerings to its visitors.

The sequence of the exhibits in Petrosains is an engaging and educational journey into the wonders of science that is relevant to everyday life. Using innovative methods of presenting ideas, Petrosains showcases its exhibits and displays in entertaining and exciting ways while nurturing meaningful science learning. To complement the exhibits, live science shows, mini science demonstrations, and science busking based on thematic science campaigns are presented to visitors every day to further pique their interest in science and enhance their understanding of scientific principles presented.

Petrosains further extends its objective of igniting the interest and passion in science and introduce the pleasure of lifelong learning by developing many inreach and outreach programs for students, teachers and the general public both outside and within the Discovery Centre. Among the inreach programs conducted are the Educators’ Workshop for teachers, Petrosains Science Scouts – an after school program for students and Creative Science for Schools program for students visiting the Centre while for outreach programs, Petrosains conducts the Sahabat Petrosains Camp for the children of the Orang Asli community in Peninsula Malaysia, VisittoSchools program, DinoTrek travelling exhibition – an exhibition on pre-historic creatures and science of paleontology and Petrosains PlaySmart – Petrosains’ satellite centres in Kuantan, Johor Bharu, and Kota Kinabalu.

Petrosains also conducts two signature programs every year which are the Petrosains Science Show Competition and the Petrosains Science Festival. The Science Show Competition is a national level science show competition to promote effective and interesting learning methods and popularize the subject of science amongst secondary students. The Petrosains Science Festival is organized to provide a unified platform for private corporations, public institutions, scientists, academicians, artists, personalities, and Petrosains to pool together and storm up a festival of science in the hope of inspiring and attracting Malaysians to the wonders of science.
