Celebrating cultural differences: the ‘East meets West’ infographic series

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Seeing as it’s a weekend of celebration, we thought it would be a good time to also celebrate the differences in cultures across the world; in this case, via a fantastic set of illustrated infographics by talented designer Yang Liu.

The collection, called ‘East Meets West‘, is the first volume in Liu’s ‘cultural infographic’ series. It’s meant to highlight, in playful way, the “obvious and sometimes not-so-obvious” differences in daily life for people on opposite sides of the world.

Liu is able to make such observations because she was born in Beijing but moved to Berlin to study. She has also lived and worked in Singapore, London, Berlin and New York, so she has plenty of professional experience with the working and living on either side of the world.

Here are a few of her pictograms, including the ‘East’ and ‘West’ versions of networking, behaviour when the sun shines, transport and more. (Just click on one of the thumbnail images to activate the gallery.)

Very accurate. Easterners definitely have a different mentality in their approach to life than Westerners.
