Marlborough welcomed back teams for the second annual Straits Sevens Trophy last term. The six teams in the U16 round robin and seven teams in the U18 competition consisted of quality school and club sides from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Johor.

Games throughout the day were fast paced, showing great skill, outstanding physical fitness, admirable camaraderie and unrelenting determination to claim the coveted trophies. Cloud cover provided ideal conditions for high intensity play and ensured that the matches were a true representation of the impressive standard of rugby that is developing in this region.

Sri Mersing displayed dominance in every game and finished first in the U16 tournament, retaining their title from last year. A strong TTS side came a close second.

The Marlborough U18 team proved that they have become a formidable side and claimed their second big victory of the season, following their recent success at the St Andrew’s Saints Sevens, beating KL Lions in a tense final to win the Straits title.
