The embassy is looking for a part-time Consular Officer to start with them in March. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and work wonderfully under pressure, you might just want to check this out. The role involves managing a full range of casework for British people requiring consular assistance in Malaysia, managing and prioritising caseload in a timely and accurate manner using the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)’s policies and local procedures. This might also incur some travel within Malaysia where necessary, to provide direct assistance to the customer.

Under Operations Support, the successful candidate will also handle the issuance of Emergency Travel Documents for British nationals, letters required by Malaysian authorities, as well as manage the Consular Fees collected. Some desirable qualities include experience of living in or understanding of the United Kingdom, British people, and their culture. Past experience in providing consular services will also be highly preferable, as well as the ability to speak and write in Bahasa Melayu.
