George Town in Penang is one of 8 best places to retire abroad, according to Kiplinger’s website, an American publication focusing on personal finance advice and business forecasts.

According to the article, George Town in Penang is popular to foreigners seeking affordable and quality healthcare. Cost of living also plays an important role for one to retire in Penang, and the article says that an American couple can live comfortably with just $1,500 a month.

The article also mentioned the Malaysia My Second Home Program (MM2H), saying that many foreigners have taken advantage of this program over the years thanks to its good retirement incentives such as long-term residency, no tax for importing and purchasing cars and more.

They also mentioned that Penang, especially George Town, is desirable to foreigners thanks to its heritage, food, culture, architecture and more.

Other cities mentioned are; Medellin in Colombia, Dubrovnik in Croatia, Salinas in Ecuador, Bilbao in Spain, Coronado in Panama, Galway in Ireland and Tlaxcala in Mexico.
