Results From Malaysia's 13th General Elections

Sunday, the 5th of May 2013 was the day where Malaysians all over the country came out to place their vote to determine the future of this country for the next five years. 
 
Polling started as early as 8.30am and ended at 5pm.  The counting of the votes began soon after at 5.30pm. Initial results were released as early as 7.30pm. The result: as of 4.15am, Barisan Nasional won by a majority of 133 parliamentary seats out of 222. The opposition won 89 seats based on the final tally. 
 
This means that Barisan Nasional will form the next Malaysian government,  extending its 56 year rule. 
 
According to the election commission,  BN had won 3 parliamentary seats in Perlis and Penang, 2 in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan. This includes 25 seats in Sarawak, 22 in Sabah, 21 in Johor, 12 in Perak, 10 in Pahang and Kedah, 5 in Kelantan, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan and 4 in Melaka and Terengganu. 
 
The DAP won 38 parliamentary seats.  They won 7 in Penang and Perak, 5 in Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak,  4 in Johor and Selangor,  2 in Negeri Sembilan and Sabah and 1 in Melaka and Pahang. 
 
Pakatan Rakyat had won 30 parliamentary seats. This includes 9 in Selangor, 4 in Kuala Lumpur and Kedah, 3 in Perak and Penang,  2 in Pahang and one in Negeri Sembilan,  Melaka, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.  
 
PAS on the other hand,  won 21 parliamentary seats. They now have 9 in Kelantan,  4 in Terengganu and Selangor, 2 in Perak and 1 in Kedah and Pahang.
