Growth and Expansion at the Australian International School Malaysia

The Australian International School Malaysia is in the final stages of its expansion project at its green campus in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. With increasing demand, the school has reached its capacity and is now expanding to provide capacity for 1,000 students with the opening of a new and modern Junior School complex soon.

The new Junior School will featuremodern and open classrooms and a dedicated performing arts centre with purpose-designed rooms for dance,drama, and music (including a dance studio, band, orchestra, and instrument practice rooms); a science and technology centre; and common areas equipped with modern ICT resources to facilitate learning beyond the classrooms.

As part of its expansion project, the school has also invested in upgrading its currentfacilities and resources.

The new library has become a central focus of the school’s academic program with its unique ability to facilitate classroom learning in its different learning pods. The Junior students enjoy a comfortable reading area with beanbags and a mini amphitheatre for storytelling and otheractivities. Senior students are able to utilise study areas, project discussion rooms and power learning areas equipped with latest ICT technologies and LCD screens.Each learning area is equipped with smart boards and projectors to accommodate a classroom and students are provided access to iPads and other e-learning resources.

Further to this, students also enjoy a new Black Box Theatre, which is a multipurposespace equipped with an AudioVisual system suitable for dance, drama,and music. The black box theatre is usedfor drama classes for students of all agesand has been a great venue for AISM’sannual productions. New sound proofmusic practice rooms have also been builtto facilitate its growing music programme,which now features a beginner band,jazz ensemble, rock band, string quartet,orchestra, choirs, and others.

This approach of learning beyond theclassroom is not something new at AISM.The new 21st century-designed spaceshave helped facilitate collaborative andflexible approaches to teaching andlearning, the essence of the Australiancurriculum.

Indeed, the Australian International School Malaysia, through its new and improved facilities and resources, is truly focused on developing students with a broad range of skills and competencies; students who are adaptable, resourceful innovators who are ready to explore, extend and excel in all aspects of their learning.
