The Expat Wine Dinner at Bankers Room

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Wine and good company always go together, and the last wine dinner had those exact ingredients. The event saw a whole host of wonderful expats getting together over some exquisite food and wine pairings, eager to try the superb fare available that night.

As guests made their way into The Bankers Room on Jalan Kia Peng, they were greeted by plush interiors and a relaxing setting. Starting the evening with some Gran Vino Tinto or Gran Vino Blanco, diners munched on salmon tartare with fig, almond gravlax with mango salsa, and buttery salmon with pickled ginger. A modern French Onion Soup followed, paired with a refreshing Veranza Chardonnay.

For the mains, delighted diners had the chance to taste the Hokkaido Ramen Kaimuki Style (with soft boiled eggs and oil poached halibut fillet), or the Duo of Chicken (in a classic French coq au vin style, and mini chicken roulades stuffed with smoked duck mousline and balsamico sauce), to go with some heavenly Spanish Veranza Tinto.

Those after a heartier meal opted for the Herb Crust Lamb Rack (served with mint cous cous and sautéed vegetables) or the BBQ Beef Short Ribs, blending perfectly with the smooth Vina Pomal, famed for its meat pairings.

After all that goodness, guests got to sink their teeth into classic tiramisu (with a modern twist) for dessert, with a wonderful Amarula Liquer, courtesy of Luen Heng. With bellies filled with gastronomic wonders and lovely wines, it was the perfect ending to a sensational wine dinner.
