Senses of Malaysia Turns Five!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This September marks the fifth anniversary of Senses of Malaysia, and it is a great opportunity to stop and marvel at the journey of what has become one of the leading travel and tourism publications in the country.

The inaugural issue of Senses of Malaysia was originally wheeled out with the Expat Expo of the same name held in September 2007. The expo was designed to provide a definitive introduction to all the different aspects of Malaysia, and this philosophy was adopted by the accompanying magazine.

This one-off publication proved so popular – and so different to anything else on the market – that Senses was soon a bimonthly magazine, and to this day has continued to stick to its mission of providing those visiting or those outside the country with a taste of all that the nation has to offer.

Spreading the word about Malaysia was made even easier when Malaysia Airlines requested to place copies on all their flights in and out the country (which they still do), while Malaysian embassies throughout the world have copies on display to help educate those in far-flung places on all this Southeast Asian nation has to offer.

Senses’ work on promoting the country caught the eye of Tourism Malaysia, and on the very first year it was submitted for consideration at the bi-annual Malaysia Tourism Awards, the magazine was named as the most Innovative International Tourism Magazine in 2009, and then again in the subsequent award ceremony held in 2011! Awards have been matched with positive feedback and encouragement, and our lively, informative content and stunning spreads delight readers all over the world as well as the country’s hotel guests and anyone fortunate enough to pick up a copy at the bookshop.

It has been quite a journey for Senses, and this cover selection will bring back some fond memories for our faithful readers. The team at Senses thank you all for sharing in our celebration of Malaysia, and we look forward to continuing our work for the years to come!
