Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the Mooncake Festival for one reason; it’s a time when people can indulge in some delicious Chinese pastry, usually containing red bean or lotus seed filling.

In this day and age, many talented pastry chefs have experimented with different types of fillings and colours for a more diverse selection. Mooncake lovers are now simply spoilt for choice!

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, will be celebrating the Mid-Autumn festival by offering food lovers an interesting mix of mooncakes, handmade to perfection by Lai Po Heen’s team of master chefs, from 23 July to 30 September 2012.

These include red bean, lotus paste with single egg yolk, dark chocolate with salted caramel ganache, homemade pandan essense and macademia nut, homemade black sesame paste and melon seeds.

The must try is the signature snow skin mooncake with durian paste (a best-seller). For those who like something a little more adventurous, then do try the snow skin mooncake with blueberries and grated coconut, dark chocolate mooncake with star anise and red bean ganache and white chocolate mooncake with orange ganache and jam.

The unique and delicious mooncakes are sold in packs of 4’s and 6’s, and priced from RM84 onwards.

To purchase your delicious mooncakes, please call Lai Po Heen at 03 2179 8885.

The mooncakes will also be available for sale at the One Utama Shopping Centre between 14-30 September 2012.
