The US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur closed at 11am this morning due to a demonstration held at Jalan Tun Razak.
The demonstration is staged by the UMNO Youth movement and the PAS Youth wing, the youth branch of political parties UMNO and PAS. They are protesting against the production and screening of the Anti-Islam film, ‘Innocence of Muslims’ and the cartoon humiliating Prophet Muhammad SAW in a French magazine, Charlie Hebdo.
The embassy will open as normal on Monday. In the event of an emergency, US citizens may call 03 2168 5000 at any time for assistance.
