Malaysia is the top choice for Muslim tourist, according to a survey conducted recently. The survey, by Singapore-based Muslim travel consultancy Crescentrating, ranked countries on how well they catered to the growing number of Muslim holidaymakers seeking halal – or Islam-compliant – food and services.
The criteria used in the survey includes the level of safety in a country, ease of access to halal food, prayer facilities, and whether hotels catered to the needs of Muslim guests. According to the survey, on a scale of one to 10 (10 is the highest score), Malaysia came out number one with a grade of 8.3 among 50 nations that were surveyed.
Runners up in the survey are Egypt (6.7), Turkey (6.6), United Arab Emirates (6.6), Saudi Arabia (6.4) and Singapore (6.3). Indonesia, Morocco and Jordan are tied at the sixth spot with a score of 6.1. Brunei, Qatar, Tunisia and Oman each scored 6.0 to tie for the seventh place.
