I was invited by a durian plantation owner to taste some durians from his collection. These fruits were sinfully rich and bitter; just the way I like my Musang King to be. I shall not be eating durians from the streets for some time.
We celebrated Steven’s birthday at spanking-new ESC Dining Foodie’s FOR THE LOVE OF CHOCOLATE Escape. This place totally rocked me off my Who doesn’t love chocolates? I went gaga seat. Everything was memorable, but my over the chocolate offerings at Latitude 03 favourite dish had to be the starter: Red at the newly renovated Le Meridien Kuala Melon and Scallop Gravlax with Avocado Lumpur. Purée and Bacon Bits.
It may be crazy but yes, if you love food, you will be daring (in an ethical sense – I don’t do exotic meals of tortoises, lizards, and all). I had fun pairing Perrier with COMFORT EATING Bak Kut Teh. Sounds crazy, but trust me, Bak Kut Teh goes better with Perrier than Chinese tea. Even the owner of the shop had to concur!
I was craving for some Singapore hawker HOMEMADE TASTES food and I finally had my fix when I flew down to Singapore for my half marathon. The touristy Newtown Circle has my favourite carrot cakes at Stall 28 and oyster omelette at Stall 73.
I completed my run in Singapore and came back to Malaysia craving Nasi Kukus Ayam Berempah. I got my fix in Taman Desa. I am smitten with this dish, but no KL version compares to the taste of it in Kemaman (Terengganu).

Who doesn’t love chocolates? I went gaga over the chocolate offerings at Latitude 03 at the newly renovated Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur.
Equally sexy as chocolate are oysters. I lost count of the oysters that I had at Sheraton Imperial’s sneak preview of their Christmas offerings.
A rainy December called for some comfort claypot food. One of our regular haunts on rainy days is Heun Kee for its charcoal-cooked claypot rice. Don’t skip the salted fish!
I love food so, obviously, I love cooking. I spent an afternoon experimenting with some butter cookies that were enjoyed by my husband…and my dogs! I made these cookies without sugar, sweetening them naturally with honey and/or carob. They didn’t last long….
