DAP Happy With Performance in the 13th General Elections

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) managed to secure 70% of the total parliament seats it contested for in the 13th General Elections. They won 38 of the 51 seats. This is a significant improvement compared to the 12th General Elections in 2008 when they won 28 parliamentary seats.

Overall, DAP’s Chairman, Karpal Singh, announced that he was happy with DAP’s performance in the 13th General Elections.

DAP’s party adviser, Lim Kit Siang won his seat at Gelang Patah, Johor, which was previously held by Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.

DAP’s secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng, managed to retain his parliamentary constituency in Bagan and his seat in Air Puteh. He was sworn in as Penang’s Chief Minister for the second term today. Lim took his oath of office before the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas at Seri Mutiara.
