KLM Charity Tulip Sale Returns with a French Twist

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ signature annual charity event takes on a French twist this year with fresh tulips and a special fragrance from France this year.

The French connection for the 2013 KLM Charity Tulip Sale by the Netherlands flag carrier is in conjunction with the commencement of direct flights to KLIA by its sister airline, Air France, last month.

In 2004, Air France merged with KLM Royal Dutch Airline to form Air France-KLM and became the largest European airline group.

To commemorate the direct flights from Paris to Kuala Lumpur, KLM will be bringing in a combination of 3,777 stalks of fresh Dutch & French tulips for this year’s charity fundraising event which has traditionally always been held the day before Mother’s Day.

Each delicate tulip is affordably priced at RM5 per stalk and every bouquet will be prettily wrapped by KLM staff, ready to be presented  to mothers.

Apart from putting a big smile on the face of their mothers, generous buyers will be further rewarded with the soft floral fragrance of Lanvin Eclat D’Arpege EDP by the French fashion house. Every minimum purchase of 150 tulips comes with a free bottle of the eu de parfum worth RM205 each and the special offer is valid only for the first 30 qualified purchases.

This year’s KLM Charity Sale aims to raise over RM30,000 for The Selangor and Federal Territory Association for the Mentally Handicapped (SAMH). The association provides training and living skills to the mentally handicapped to be independent individuals. It also provides support to parents and caregivers, but needs funds to continue its operations at its headquarters, Wisma Harapan.

The event is sponsored by French fashion house Lanvin and long term partners, Sungei Wang Plaza as official venue and Rabobank, a Dutch global financial services leader specialising in food and agribusiness banking.

Rabobank will pledge RM3 for every tulip sold, bringing their contribution to over RM11,000 if all tulips are sold out. Its contribution helps to subsidize the cost of the tulips to keep it at an affordable RM5 for the public.

The 2013 KLM Charity Tulip Sale will be held at the Concourse Level of Sungei Wang Plaza on Saturday, May 11th from 11.00 a.m. onwards.
