Idealite is truly a different way of eating. It is more than a restaurant to its six owners who, between them, hold certification in homeopathy as well as food science. For them, Idealite is a way of life, and the devotion to healthy eating takes precedence over all other aspects of the “dining experience.”
My first surprise was that the food actually tasted “alive” – it’s difficult to describe it better, but the food I was eating just seemed to burst with not just flavour, but energy in the mouth. The food never overpowered the next flavour; indeed the whole menu seemed to enhance the enjoyment course by course.
We started with Hokkaido Vegetarian Sushi, sushi rolls made of paper thin rice with a seaweed lining and stuffed with burdock and a wide selection of vegetables, all shredded so fi nely that they blend together into a wonderful taste bomb. Extremely light and fresh on the palette and at a reasonable RM9.70 for a plate of six, this sushi is reputed to strengthen the immune system, enrich the blood, and enhance your memory – I certainly won’t forget them!
Alongside the Hokkaido delight we had Vegetarian Sushi, this with a crepe wrapping much like a spring roll. Inside our Vegetarian Sushi was more of the fresh, shredded vegetables, but doused in a wonderful sauce this time, which really set the mouth tingling. I initially thought it was an orange-based sauce, but it seems the tangy fl avour came from limes that were not at all sour or bitter, just simply delicious. At RM8.70 for a plate of six rolls, this is a great dish to share.
The Colour Dry Ramen (RM12.70 a bowl) are noodles surrounded by five or six different vegetable which are mixed together on the plate and savoured. The use of ramen makes this a slightly more fulfilling dish, and we ate it with crispy Provence Tempura Mushrooms. The mushrooms were probably the tastiest I have ever eaten! Crisp with a tempura coating and full of “herbie” flavours, these mushrooms were a defi nite winner. Add Thai-style spaghetti (RM16.70) to this delectable mix and you have a spicy accompaniment that is worthy of any foodie’s tastebuds!
To cool off, I drank a refreshing lemongrass and honey drink, while my partner went for cooling lemonade that was sweetened with organic brown sugar – very thirst quenching indeed!
Overall, we felt that Idealite was a great place to eat truly healthy food and is well worth taking the time out of your schedule to visit.
