School snaps: Epsom student earn top slots

Six students from Epsom College in Malaysia bagged the top three prizes in the 16th Annual Essay Contest for Overseas Chinese Youth. The contest is an annual event open to overseas Chinese young people worldwide. This year, participants from over 20 countries such as the USA, Canada, Holland, and Austria sent in entries to this high-profile competition.

The event was organised by the International Chinese Language Council and sponsored by the Chinese International Cultural Exchange Foundation.

Chen Yi Xi, Patrick in Year 8 won the first prize while Andy Zhuang, Year 10 won the second prize. Lee Yi Chen, Year 7, Lin Le Rong, Year 9, Teresa Ooi and Liao Ze Xin, both in Year 10 share the third prize. Apart fromthat, two teachers, Ms Sharon Zhuo and MrsWen Li Leighton also received the Teachers Award for ‘Teaching Excellence’.
