MyRapid has announced that the Ampang LRT (Light Rail Transit) line will be shut down on 7th, 8th, and 16th July. The closure will be done to facilitate upgrade works on the train signalling system. According to the MyRapid website, the upgrades will allow for commuters to travel from the new Putra Heights Station to Sentul Timur Station without having to switch trains.

While the service is suspended, commuters can use the free shuttle bus service that will be available to ferry passengers between the stations along the Ampang LRT line and the Pasar Seni Bus Hub. Since the closures will happen on the second and third days of Hari Raya (7th and 8th) and 16th is a Saturday, the number of commuters will be significantly lower than usual.

Still, if you’re planning on using public transport to get around KL on those days, try to schedule in an extra half hour to an hour of travel time since buses won’t be able to take on as many passengers at one time as an LRT coach, especially for the 16th since that’s a regular Saturday and plenty of people will be back in KL by then.
