Being the most populous state, Selangor is definitely one of the best places to live in Malaysia. Selangor is located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and is bordered by Perak to the north, Pahang to the east, Negeri Sembilan to the south and the Strait of Malacca to the west. It surrounds the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, both of which were once under Selangor’s territorial sovereignty.

Rapid growth and development

Thanks to the modernisation and urbanisation in Greater Klang Valley area, Selangor is growing rapidly. With a number of well-known urban centres such as Shah Alam, Klang, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, and Cyberjaya, Selangor maintains a high standard of living. The education, infrastructure, communications, and healthcare facilities in Selangor are also among the best in the region, according to Invest Selangor Berhad.

The state also has been monitoring the growing arrival of visitors who come to Selangor seeking medical treatment and while they are being treated, they also take restful holidays with their families here.  There are a wide number of medical centres in Selangor who have recognised this potential and are actively participating in medical tourism.

Selangor’s popularity among travellers is reflected in the increase of visitors, from 3 to 5% in the past few years. With a combination of rich history and culture, hustling cities and scenic villages, modern infrastructure, and gastronomic delights – Selangor is a destination of choice for local and international visitors.

Discover the ‘Heart of Malaysia’

Supported by the State Government, this year’s promotional campaign ‘Discover Selangor’ aims to get even more tourists to experience the fun and enriching experiences in Selangor. Armed with the tagline ‘Heart of Malaysia’, the campaign offers new and returning visitors to have a complete experience of Selangor’s attractions – in lifestyle, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) and sports events.

Tourism Selangor as a state tourism promotional board works closely with private and public healthcare providers to expand their reach and referral networks in key target markets. Tourism Selangor also partners in-market intermediaries to profile Selangor as an advanced medical care destination and showcase Selangor’s clinical excellence.
