Learn How to Grow Greens at These Upcoming Workshops

There’s something pleasant about being near living green plants, isn’t there? While the colour green is said to be soothing to look at, it’s not just that. Maybe it’s the energy of another living thing, or it could just be the extra oxygen produced by the plant. Anyhow, it’s nice and aesthetically pleasing to have indoor plants present. Bonus points if the plant produces fruits or vegetable you can eat! If it sounds like something you’d like, why not give these workshops a go. Learn how to grow greens in the form of terrariums or organically in a bag, and have a good, relaxing time too.

1. Gardening in a Bag Workshop at the National Cancer Society Malaysia Building, KL

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia is organising a special Gardening in a Bag Workshop for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. The objective is to learn how to grow your own organic vegetables and herbs even if you live in the city. The trainers will explain the basics of how to fertilize, water, harvest, and transplant seedlings. They will also give some tips on addressing pest problems and teach you how to turn your vegetable plants into a beautiful centerpiece.

2. Terrarium Workshop at Terminal B Cafe, Melaka

Here’s one for the folks in Melaka. Participants will learn how to create their own terrarium with the good people of Mussi Mossi Terrarium. Some of the topics covered are tips and tricks to design your terrarium, maintenance and care, and some basic knowledge about closed terrariums. Each participant will receive a cookie jar-sized terrarium of 10cm x 18cm, imported live mosses, assorted small plants, tools, selected miniature decoration items, as well as other materials like pebbles, dry moss, soil, and rocks. Some drinks and light bites will be provided too.

3.Tropical Urban Edible Gardening at Bungalow 35, Bangsar

The Hive, together with Ground Control and The Bungalow 35 proudly present their Tropical Urban Edible Gardening Workshop. Perfect for urban-dwellers, the workshop will teach participants how to grow and maintain an edible garden even if you live in an apartment or condominium in the city. They will also show how to make use of kitchen and garden scraps as valuable nutrients for your garden soil.
