Offering a new option for U.S education in the Klang Valley, Oasis International School – Kuala Lumpur recently celebrated their official launch with a Public Ribbon Cutting Ceremony held at the school campus. Those in attendance included the Ketua Unit Pendidikan Swasta Jabatan Pendidikan Selangor, Yang Berusaha Encik Mohmad Nazer Bin Haji Hasim; the Board of Directors of the Oasis International Schools Network; IJM Land Bhd Managing Director, Edward Chong; and representatives from many government agencies and embassies.

The ceremony featured a musical performance from Oasis’ elementary students, a campus tour, and “The Oasis Story,” a digital presentation showcasing the journey from constructing the campus buildings to opening the school to growing a school community. Oasis is part of the Oasis International Schools Network, which is headquartered in the United States and has 19 schools stretching across the world. President of the Oasis International Schools Network, Dr. Joe Hale, expressed his excitement regarding the ceremony, “Oasis International Schools is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the network’s first school in Malaysia. Oasis is set up to be a premier flagship school of our network from day one because we believe Malaysia is a strategic place for our network to expand—a center for education in Southeast Asia. We believe that this school will quickly become one of Southeast Asia’s finest.”

Oasis recently began their inaugural year on 29 August 2018, with a phase 1 capacity of 650 students. Being granted the first school license in over 20 years in the Klang Valley, Oasis offers a rewarding educational experience that is based on a holistic approach and the U.S. education system. All of Oasis’ teachers, with the exception of the foreign language teachers, have U.S. certifications in their respective subject areas. Every student and teacher has access to technology and learning spaces designed to enhance the educational process.

With spacious facilities, the school is able to offer a variety of extracurricular opportunities in sports, visual, and performing arts. The school places high importance on ensuring that every student finds his or her place in the school. Additionally, Oasis is hosting an Open Day on 17 November where attendees will have the opportunity to meet the teachers and learn more about the elementary, middle, and high school programs at Oasis. Attendees will also be able to take part in an open gym in the Sports Facilities and experience creative STEM activities in the Launch Pad, a space on campus to teach Oasis students how to create with technology.
