Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa welcomed the second half of the year with the introduction of its new redesigned and refreshed spaces following a four-month-long closure.

Dubbed ‘Re.Defined’, corporate guests and members of the media were invited to the unveiling of the RM54 million major refurbishment work. Much of the hotel, including the Grand Ballroom, showcases enhanced facilities and new technology integration.

“Since its opening in 1996, the Hotel has played host to many local and international events and we continue to elevate these event experiences to stay relevant to the fast changing consumer tastes and needs. Re.Defined brings a refreshed approach to Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa’s events and meetings programme, which are immersive, responsive and customised to exceed needs; with endless possibilities to push the boundaries of one’s imagination to the next level,” Mr Roger Marcz, Cluster General Manager of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, said in his welcome speech.

A highlight of the event was the presence of social humanoid robot Sunny, who was designed to engage with guests and provide information and guidance about the new spaces. Sunny has basic facial and emotion readers, and will be available for clients and event organisers as a feature (applicable charges will apply).

The Grand Ballroom is now equipped with surround sound and built-in high-definition LED screen backdrops, giving a panoramic experience to immersive effects. Laser light show systems complete with high-powered sound also demonstrated its ability as a multipurpose venue, going beyond its designation as a function hall.

Different sections of The Grand Ballroom were also dressed up in different featured sections of multiple themes such as Oriental, Bollywood, Muhibbah, and Gatsby for cocktail events, meetings, and/or conferences, for a full sensory visual experience.

Selected rooms from its total of thirty-two meeting and functions rooms were also set-up in different event settings to showcase its versatility. These included a Grooming Workshop, Engineering Workshop, Creative Think-Tank Workshop, VVIP Dinner, Annual General Meeting, Board of Directors meeting, and a Regional Sales Conference atmosphere.

Names of the function rooms have also been upgraded to represent “assembly points” where new insights and memories are generated and created – Forum, Congress and Arena. Each has the capacity to host a variation of functions, from banquet settings to individual workshops and other intimate events.

And it’s not only Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa’s facade that has been upgraded! Executive Chef Peter Lee and team are set to curate and customise a menu based on guests’ taste, preferences, and dietary requirements, in addition to complementing the brand-new spaces for a truly memorable event.

Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, combined with Sunway Clio Hotel and the adjacent Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, offers a total of close to 13,000 square metres of function space featuring more than 60 meeting rooms, making this one of Malaysia’s most versatile conventions and exhibitions venue. The convention centre also recently went through a refurbishment programme, unveiling a world-class convention venue with versatile facilities and services.
