A Rare Evening: Château Haut-Brion Wines Meet Cantonese Elegance at Shang Palace

For one night only, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur fuses Bordeaux prestige with Cantonese artistry in a 40th anniversary celebration.
Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur continues its 40th anniversary festivities this month with a soirée that is certain to capture the imagination of food and wine lovers alike. On September 26, the hotel’s acclaimed Shang Palace will host an exclusive wine-pairing dinner, showcasing the celebrated wines of Château Haut-Brion alongside a bespoke seven-course menu.
For wine enthusiasts, the opportunity is remarkable. Château Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious estates, its wines long sought-after for their depth and complexity. The evening will feature labels such as Clarendelle, La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion, Dragon de Quintus, and the estate’s signature Château Haut-Brion itself, joined by a special anniversary release created for the occasion. Guests will also have the rare chance to be guided through the tasting by Jérémie Roumegoux, representative of Clarence Dillon Wines, who brings his expertise shaped across France and Japan.
Culinary direction comes from Shang Palace’s Executive Chinese Chef, Keith Yeap, who has carefully crafted a menu designed to harmonise with the evening’s wines. Among the highlights are Herbal Double-boiled Chicken with Matsutake and Ginseng in Coconut, Steamed West Star Grouper with Superior Soya Sauce, Wok-fried King Prawn with XO Sauce, and Pan-fried Australian Cold-smoked Lamb Loin with Chef’s Special Sauce. Each dish reflects Yeap’s philosophy of honouring Cantonese tradition while embracing contemporary creativity.
Set against Shang Palace’s elegant backdrop, framed by views of lush greenery, the soirée is not just a dinner but an immersion into culinary artistry and wine heritage. At RM510 nett per person, the 40th Anniversary Soirée offers a chance to indulge in one of the year’s most distinctive dining experiences.
