For many, busking is considered a genuine musical show by talented artistes as it presents live talent, live music and live action. In addition, busking is said to symbolise purity, where one’s own angst and vulnerabilities are on display through raw acoustics and poetic lyrics. Against the backdrop of the sea and the historic British fort at Padang Kota Lama, this raw musical vibe will be carried up the streets of Penang over the two-day Penang International Buskers Festival, transforming the tropical island paradise into an outdoor musical carnival. The home-grown music event will welcome global performers from 21 countries who will share their music in English and their native languages with everyone along the streets of Lebuh Pantai in the UNESCO World Heritage area of George Town.
