Expats and Malaysians hoping to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their visit to Malaysia this month can now rejoice!

The royal couple is due to visit Malaysia from the 13-16 September this month in celebration of the 60-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

According to a report in The Star newspaper, the royal couple are scheduled to –among other things- go on a walkabout at the KLCC park on the second day of their visit. This will be a rare chance for the public to get a glimpse of Prince William and Duchess Kate.

The report also states that Malaysians will be the first people outside of Britain to hear the Duchess make a speech in public, as Duchess Kate will be delivering a speech during her visit to Hospis Malaysia, a charitable organisation offering professional palliative care to people suffering from life-limiting illnesses. Prince William would also deliver a public speech, underscoring the importance of UK-Malaysia ties and prosperity at a luncheon organised by the British-Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.

“Their Royal Highnesses other engagements in Malaysia include attendance at an official dinner hosted by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at the Istana Negara and a luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Seri Perdana, on the first day of their visit,” the report states.

On the second day of their visit, the royal couple will depart for Sabah, after a Diamond Jubilee Tea Party at the British High Commissioner’s residence, Simon Featherstone.
