Star Trek Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Star Trek fans in Malaysia can now look forward to re-living their favourite Star Trek memories as Star Trek: The Exhibition is now open to public at Pusat Sains Negara at Bukit Kiara.

After a successful exhibition in Vancouver, Canada, Star Trek: The Exhibition made its first maiden voyage to Asia with Kuala Lumpur as its first stopover.  Fans and visitors can now enjoy an interactive, museum-style experience of the largest collection of authentic Star Trek artefacts and information to ever be put on display.

Star Trek fans and novices alike will have a first hand interactive experience to explore the worlds, the wisdom, the science, the stories, the cultures, characters, fashions and the fantasies of the Star Trek universe that has made it the most influential science-fiction TV show ever.

But it’s not all entertainment, as the exhibition will also touch on the educational aspect such as science, technology, mathematics, geography, history and health.

Science
The spaceships on Star Trek have no rocket engines and no hot exhaust gases. So how do they propel the ships?

Technology
Star Trek spaceships versus actual space ships – complexity of design, materials used, technology currently available and so on.

Mathematics
Travelling at the speed of light – is this possible?

Geography
Place, regions – understanding how people / ‘beings’ create regions

Promoted

History
Major global trends and events parallel to Star Trek’s history

Health
How space travel affects the structure and functions of the human body – bone mass / bone density loss for example

Among the main attraction of the exhibition is the opportunity to sit in the legendary Captain’s chair where Captain Kirk and subsequently Captain Picard took command of the USS Enterprise throughout the many great Star Trek adventures. There will also be an opportunity for pans to pose in front of a 7-metre replica of the USS Enterprise, enjoy a one-of-a-kind display, interactive kiosks, rare photo opportunities and more.

Star Trek: The Exhibition is an interactive exhibit of the largest collection of authentic Star Trek artifacts and information ever put on public display. A truly impressive array of exhibits featuring sets, costumes, priceless museum pieces and props from all five Star Trek television series and 11 Star Trek feature films, including the 2009 blockbuster film directed by J.J. Abrams. Together, these components offer Star Trek fans and novices alike an
opportunity to experience first-hand the imagination, artistry, technology and meticulous craftsmanship that have made Star Trek the most enduring science-fiction franchise in history.

For over 40 years, Star Trek has entertained audiences with compelling stories, colourful characters and powerful allegories. No other science fiction brand has become so interwoven with popular culture. While entertaining and delighting, Star Trek also foretold the world today: humans exploring other worlds, miracles of modern medicine and even the first mobile phone.

Star Trek: The Exhibition is on at the Pusat Sains Negara (National Science Centre) from now till 31 March 2013.
