A total of 400 investigating officers will be joining the Royal Malaysian Police force (PDRM) next year, to improve the standard of investigation and the prosecution process towards enhancing the image of the police force in Malaysia.

According to Bernama, the new officers consisted of 200 investigating officers with the rank of inspector, and 200 assistant investigating officers with the rank of sergeant. All 400 are trained in the field of investigation.

According to Federal police CID Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin, “The heavy workload have caused our investigating officers to be unable to fully focus on their work of handling crime cases, and what we want is for them to build capacity in order to raise the investigation profile and prosecution.”

Mohd Bakri also said that PDRM is hoping to lessen the work load of investigating officers. Currently, the workload ratio is one officer to 20 investigation papers. It will soon be brought down to one officer to five investigation papers.
