What brought you to Malaysia?
My dad moved to KL a year and a half ago for work. I enjoy yearly visits over the summer to spend some quality time with my dad.

What do you like or dislike about Malaysia?
I love the bustling street life and diverse food culture. I cannot stand the Antarctic-like air conditioning in all the shopping malls.

Name three typical weekend activities that you enjoy.
Scoping out hidden away local restaurants serving delicious grub, basking in the sun with a good book, and hopping on a plane or train for a weekend of discovery.

What is your favourite holiday destination in Malaysia or in the region? Why?
I haven’t travelled a whole lot so far in Malaysia, but last year I really enjoyed the beautiful beaches of Kuantan where I released baby turtles into the sea and took a midnight river cruise to see the fireflies.

Describe a memorable eating experience you have had here.
My good friend who I met in Beijing (but is from KL) suggested that I try the banana leaf dining experience. So we went to this restaurant called Raju’s and the food was incredibly tasty. I loved the messiness of eating with my hands and chaotically grabbing dishes as waiters paraded around with trays of side dishes.

What do you miss most about your home country?
The organisation and punctuality of things; it’s a bit too relaxed here for us English. And of course, I miss my lovely mum, too.

Is Malaysia a good place in which to work and do business? Why?
Not sure about the business side of things, but it’s definitely a great place for exchanging ideas with such a diverse population and culture.
