Rare Species of Orang Utan Found in Sarawak

A recent survey by the Forestry Department, Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and the Borneo Adventure, led to the discovery of a rare species of orang utan, the Pongo pygmaeus sub-species. This sub-species is said to be listed as the most severely threatened species worldwide, Bernama wrote.

In regards to this latest finding, the Sarawak Government has plans to gazette an area in Sungai Menyang, Sri Aman, as another national park. This is near the Batang Ai National Park.
