The Taaras Beach and Spa Resort, Redang Island

Ranked as one of the top resorts in Redang, the Taaras beach resort aims to serve as the place to rest your bones as you go on your island adventure. With an impressive variety of rooms and suites to choose from, the resort hopes to cater to different audiences with garden, cliff, or ocean preferences.

The Taaras offers several dining and drinking options. The Asean All Day Dining serves up both Malaysian and international cuisine à la buffet style, The Beach Brasserie serves up Western, Japanese, and Indian dishes near the ambiance of the beach, while the Horizon Club Lounge is a fine dining restaurant situated on a cliff over looking the South China Sea. Experience Dinners on the other hand, allow guests to customize their dining experience where and when they see fit, such as the “Robinson Crusoe Experience”, where you and a loved one gets deposited on a deserted adjacent island whilst your very own private butler and chef caters to your culinary desires. For cocktails, spirits, and the like, guests can head to the Asean Terrace Lounge or the Bayu Bar for some socializing.

Diving, or snorkelling for the less experienced, is one of the main attractions of Redang Island and the resort offers an in-house PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) dive centre for learning and diving services. It is a good chance to examine the extremely diverse biodiversity that occupies the island’s waters. Other services in this Redang beach resort includes turtle watching by means of a boat with a glass bottom, parasailing, and island hopping.

The Taaras Beach Resort: Price Range
The cost of staying a night at this five-starred accommodation will set you back from as low as RM600 to as high as RM6000, depending on how much you’re willing to spend.

 

Laguna Redang Island Resort, Redang Island

Located on the island’s Long Beach, this large modern Malay-design inspired resort has an adjoining white sandy beach, lush green hilltops, and aquamarine waters. There are six room types, including five rooms and one suite option, which all (except the standard room) comes equipped with a balcony to take in the South China Sea breeze, with the choice of having a garden, rainforest, sea or pool view.

While most rooms include basic features such as air-conditioning, colour TV, and a safe, most visitors come instead for the resort’s beach to rest or explore its waters. Guests have only one dining option at the Laguna resort while staying there, which is the Sang Suria Restaurant. The open concept restaurant serves a wide spread of local oriental cuisine and offers a view of the beach and its surroundings.

Diving and snorkelling are two of the most popular activities on the island and it is no surprise to see the Laguna Redang Island Resort offering them as a primary source of entertainment. All manner of fishes, such as barracudas, groupers, batfish, rays, crabs, eels, and the rare occasional whale shark, wait to be discovered. The dive centre also offers both night and daytime diving activities. Other activities include archery, jungle trekking, beach volleyball, and banana boat rides.

While the resort’s accommodations are not as luxurious as the Taaras, its beach and waters certainly rivals that of the Taaras’.

Laguna Redang Island Resort Price Range:
On average, published rates for rooms at the resort can fetch up to RM510 a night for the standard room up to RM1370+ a night for the suite. Prices here are also seasonal sensitive and vary according to the types of packages that they offer.

Redang Kalong Resort, Redang Island

Redang Kalong Resort has been around since 2000 and even has its own private beach. It has 39 suites to cater to couples, families, or groups of friends. Kalong resort is a diving resort, offering scuba diving lessons, services, and holiday packages. The diver’s package, for example, includes diving trips, a room to stay in, daily food and beverages, as well as access to indoor and outdoor activities.

The PADI dive centre present at the resort notes that it is common for guests to witness underwater life such as turtles and baby sharks, amongst other colourful marine life. The dive centre also offers a strong range of course levels, ranging from beginners all the way up to instructor level. The resort also has other activities such as beach volleyball and snorkelling, for the less adventurous. They also have a bar and a restaurant to cater to your every need whilst vacationing at the resort. With a strong focus on diving as well as a modest and humble resort charm, this is one Redang beach resort you wouldn’t want to consider passing up.

Redang Kalong Resort Price Range:
Free & Easy Package (No Diving) starts at RM420 and RM380 for standard rooms with an additional RM150 and RM130 per extra night respectively. Diver’s Package starts at RM695 and RM655 for standard rooms with an additional RM260 and RM240 per extra night. All rates are based on weekday rates and more luxurious Seaview rooms are available.
