Monsoon Rain Expected to Hit Several States in Malaysia

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Several states in Malaysia, especially the ones affected by the recent floods, might experience another episode of monsoon rain and strong winds between today and Friday.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) the states involved were Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor and some parts on the west coast of Sabah; Kudat, Sandakan and Tawau.

Those living in flood-prone areas are reminded to keep themselves updated on the weather situation as the condition may cause floods in low-lying areas.

According to Bernama, strong winds from the North East at speeds reaching 40 to 50km/h and rough seas with waves rising up to 3.5 metres reported on 4 January will continue until 9 January. This is especially dangerous for small boats, sea and sports recreation activities.

For more information or for the latest weather report, call MetMalaysia at 1300 22 1638 or visit the website at www.met.gov.my.
