MODESTO’S RESTAURANTS have been famous for .ne Italian Cuisine and the best pizzas in town since 1995! That’s when Modesto Marini, a young Italian professional chef already experienced in Italy, London and Singapore joined forces with Bob Wong, KL’s “King of Clubs”, and created the first Modesto’s Italian restaurant with a twist. The combination of a trendy dining ambience, al fresco bars and dining and a club experience all under one roof was an instant hit. Today Modesto’s is a household name with outlets throughout Malaysia and Singapore. The latest Modesto’s restaurant is now open at the Curve incorporating the Q3 club and is located in Damansara Mutiara. Gudrun and I had the pleasure of a meal with Modesto himself recently at his latest trend-setting outlet and for gourmands like us it was truly gastronomically grand.

Our gourmet experience started with a .ne Italian aperitif, Ferrari Brut “Champagne” from Trento. This was perfectly complemented by a brilliant frito misto, an entrée of six different appetisers, delicious antipasti, including zucchini bruschetta and brosaola. Modesto’s signature dish, a sensational seafood pizza, thin and crispy crust with heaps of succulent seafood was followed by a new creation from Modesto and his head chef Sonny (who has been with Modesto for fifteen years) called Orecchiette al Italiana, a simply outstanding combination of al-dente shell pasta, duck breast, truffle oil, cherry tomatoes and rocket salad. That dish and wagyu beef on a bed of mashed potatoes was washed down with a very good Italian red wine, a 2005 Jarno Trulli Rosso. We finished with Modesto’s desert, a combination of mouth-watering delights including a wonderful tiramisu and sinful chocolate brownies with ice-cream centres. Later we enjoyed a 60 proof Alexander Aqua Di Vita digestive at Q3 to round out a truly special dning experience. For genuine fine Italian dining and the best place to entertain your friends it must be Modesto’s.

Modesto’s is offering a lunch promo of 50% off of pastas and pizzas and a 20% discount (for food only) exclusively for Expat Card members.
