“The Langkawi Municipal Council (MPL) will ask for more closed-circuit television cameras from the Housing and Local Government Ministry in an effort to make the island safer for locals and tourist,” The Sun Daily reports.

The exact number of CCTV’s sought is still undecided, as the MPL is still in the process of identifying strategic locations on the island to install them.

According to the report, 16 CCTV’s have been installed on the island in places such as the parking lot at Kuah Jetty, Taman Chogm, Chenang beach, Pasir Tengkorak beach, Ayer Hangat and the MPL premises.
