Bad Haze in Penang

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The haze condition in Penang has worsen, with several areas in Penang recording a higher Air Pollutant Index (API) reading with reduced visibility.

According to a statement made by Phee Boon Poh, State Health, Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee Chairman to Bernama, Sumatera has more than 200 hotspots that can catch fire during the hot weather. Monsoon winds blow the smoke over the boarder to Peninsular Malaysia.

According to Phee, the haze situation is expected to recover by next week with an expected rainfall in Penang.

Expat Go Malaysia would like to advice all expats to drink plenty of water and reduce outdoor recreational activities for the time being to avoid getting sick. It would also be wise to avoid getting wet in the rain as it may be acidic and harmful to your health.
