Closing Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics

The London Olympics, the glorious two-week world sporting event finally came to an end on Sunday, 12 August. The final results of the games ended with The United States ruling the medals board with a total of 46 gold’s while Britain has 29 gold’s. Malaysia ranks at No.63 on the medals board with a silver medal in Men’s Badminton thanks to Lee Chong Wei, and a bronze medal in Women’s Diving thanks to Pandelela Riong.

The closing ceremony watched by billions around the world (live and on TV), was a happy and colourful occasion. The three hour closing ceremony saw electrifying performances by  the Spice Girls, Jessi J, George Michael, One Direction, the Pet Shop Boys, The Who and more.  There was also a special appearance by Pele, Brazilian football legend.

The ceremony also saw the handover of the Olympic flag to the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro. Rio is the next destination for the Olympics games in 2016.
