User Friendly Website for Children in Malaysia

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Childline Malaysia is making it easier for your child, or any child for that matter, to contact them for help over their rights and protection.

According to The Star Online, the website will mainly benefit children who were hearing impaired or unable to contact them via telephone.

“We are now developing a user-friendly website, which will be more of a social network site incorporating a Facebook and Twitter-like environment”, said Chairman Sabri Rahman.

Sabri also told the Star that the website offers more privacy, and was modeled after similar applications by Childline organisations in other countries.

The chairman also said that the organisations 24-hour helpline received 4564 calls nationwide. Psycho-social mental health issues had the highest number of calls (1828) followed by calls regarding abuse and violence (1192).

“There is a dire need for more concerted efforts as we all have a role to play,” he said.

Childline Malaysia is a national 24-hour free telephone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection and aims to link children to long-term services.
