What brought you to Malaysia?
My husband’s work – he is on an on-site project here for a few years. We arrived in September 2010.
What were your impressions of Malaysia before you came?
I really wanted to visit Malaysia thanks to the extensive tourism promotion in India, but I never knew Malaysia had so many different ethnic races and that there was so much liberty and freedom for the people.
How easily did you adapt to living in a new country?
In a way, with so many people here belonging to different cultures, the country reminds me of India, and so it was very easy to settle in here. Apart from the humid climate, that is!
What things do you like about Malaysia and what do you wish you could change?
I like the malls, the availability of Indian food, and the balance of development and greenery. I like the tourist spots too. I guess traffic jams would be the only thing I would like to change.
How long do you think you will stay?
Given a choice, I would shift here permanently.
Name three typical weekend activities that you enjoy.
I enjoy shopping, watching movies, and dining out – I like to try different cuisines, but for food of my homeland I go to The Olive Tree in Sri Hartamas and Sangeetha (vegetarian food) in Leboh Ampang.
What do you miss about your home country?
I miss the climate, the familiar people, and the food.
What is your favourite Malaysian food?
Since I am a vegetarian, I would recommend everyone try Maggi Goreng at least once!
Do you own any property here?
No. As the project time is limited, we never thought about buying property here.
What one memory will you always treasure from your time here?
Our trips to Langkawi and the awesome times I have spent with my friends.
