Print Friendly, PDF & Email

According to Bernama, the Sarawak Tourism Ministry will be installing electronic information kiosks to facilitate visitors in the state’s capital city. Apparently, the ministry is still currently working out the details with the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

Once finalised, these kiosks will be set up at several strategic locations in the city to provide immediate and comprehensive guides for tourists, all at the touch of a screen.

According to State Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, "The kiosks will be a visual guide of all the city's landmarks and roads so tourists will not get lost."

In other news, the Sarawak Tourism Ministry also have plans to replace the old pontoons along Sungai Sarawak with modern jetties. This is to facilitate upgrades for local residents and tourists who use water transport to move around the city.

Datuk Amar Abang Johari said the new jetties would be located at several points of the river, from the Medan Niaga Satok which is near the Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub Bridge at Satok. This will stretch all the way to the Kuching Waterfront and Borneo Convention Centre Kuching at Isthmus, which is the city’s business district.
