Hailing a cab from the side of the road in the blistering heat is not fun. Thankfully, frequent taxi users can now use their iphone’s or Android smart phones to book a cab online via Sunlight Unicablink. Unfortunately you will need a smart phone to do this, and currently, this is only available to those in the Klang Valley.
According to Bernama, this new application is possible thanks to an integrated online taxi booking system and GPS enabled taxis. This system is expected to provide a more convenient and efficient service for those who often travel by taxis.
At the moment, there are 3,000 taxi drivers under the Sunlight Company. Out of that number, 1000 taxis have already been fitted with this new system. By end of 2013, another 1000 taxis will be fitted.
This new system will definitely help taxi drivers to locate their passengers and navigate the roads easier thanks to the GPS installed.
