Below are updates on Lahad Datu for 1-7 April 2013

For the past one month, news portals have been buzzing with news of Lahad Datu. Along with the facts, there are many negative rumours circulating that Malaysia is at war. To clear things up, we have compiled a timeline of activities that has been happening since day one at Lahad Datu. This timeline will be updated as often as possible with facts from various valid news portals in Malaysia.

1 April, A man identified as Datuk Seri Muhammad Ridzwan Sulaiman gave himself up at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters. Ridzwan had admitted to giving funds to a Sulu Sultan he identified as Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram, and not Jamalul Kiram III.

3 April, a “Datuk Seri” identified as Clarence Luing Karl @ Muhammad Khalil John L was arrested along with his wife and stepson in Tanjung Aru. Police also confiscated several documents in connection with Kiram’s family from Clarence. They were arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA)

4 April, Security forces detained a man and a woman. They believe these two have connections with the Sulu armed intruders. They were arrested under SOSMA. The woman was said to be in possession of an identification document issued by the self-proclaimed Sulu Sultanate.

7 April, Two more men were detained under SOSMA in Tanjung Baru, Pulau BumBum, Semporna. Both men were not locals. Police also confiscated a while file containing two letters from the Sulu Sultan and dangerous weapons.
The number of suspects detained under SOSMA is now at 135 while the number of intruders killed remains at 70.
