1. Pink – Just Give me a Reason ft. Nate Ruess

This is an international hit number which has topped the music charts in over 200 countries around the world. So far, it has seen more than 3 million downloads just in the United States, let alone other countries. The song has been written by Pink and has been sung as a duet featuring Nate Ruess of Fun, which is an American band. The song is about Pink’s desire to not let go of her relationship. It is inspired by her separation and reuniting with her partner, Carey Hart, the famous motorcycle racer. The song was shared more than 3,375,000 times in May 2013.

 

2. Daft Punk – Get Lucky ft. Pharrell Williams

It is said that Get Lucky took a total of about 18 months to complete and watching the video, you would realize that it is worth the effort. This is a song by Daft Punk, the famous French house music duo. It was co-written by Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers and features both. The song is all about finding true chemistry between two individuals beyond physical attraction. The number has reached top ten in over 28 countries and stood second in May with over 2,923,000 shares.  This video shot up to 2nd place in May from 8th place in April.

 

3. Passenger – Let Her Go

This song has been written and sung by the British singer and song writer, Passenger. It features artists like Glenn Wilson, Cameron Undy, Stu Hunter, Georgia Mooney and Stu Larsen of Australia. Even though the song was originally released in 2012, it saw international success only in the early part of this year. This is Passenger’s first success internationally with over 1,658,000 shares online last month.

 

4. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Thrift Shop. ft. Wanz

Thrift Shop is the only independently distributed song which has topped the Billboard Digital Songs since 2010. The number is sung by the US rapper, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. This song is about the singer’s interest in buying cheap clothes and rejecting designer labels. The number is a contrast to the usual “bling” that rappers display. It had over 1,594,000 shares, ranking it 4th most popular in May.

5. Justin Timberlake – Mirrors

This pop song was written by Timberlake and James Fauntleroy. You see a lot of strings in this medium-tempo ballad. The song has the feel of mid-2000s, where Timberlake had seen maximum success. The song is about a lover who has taken a break in relationship and speaks about his feelings. The video stood fifth in May with over 1,586,000 posts and shares.

 

6. PSY – Gentleman

After being at the top last month, Gentleman has slipped to sixth position in May 2013. If you had guessed that PSY was going to completely fade out in May, you guess wrong. The video has set a new record as most viewed in YouTube in first 24 hours after its release. It has topped the iTune charts in about 40 countries. PSY’s performances have been famous for both the music and the video, and this number is no exception. The video experienced over 1,575,000 shares in May 2013.

 

7. Space Oddity

This is a number written and sung by David Bowie. Originally sung by Bowie in the year 1969, it speaks about the launch of Major Tom – a fictional astronaut – into space. If you have read the novel or watched “A Space Odyssey” you would know why the name Space Oddity has been chosen for the song. The latest version of this song in 2013 is about Major Tom returning to earth. The video features Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield who performed on the song while on board International Space Station. The video was shared over 1,499,000 times in May.  Even David Bowie publicly praised this performance!

 

8. Bruno Mars – When I was your Man

This song was written by Andrew Wyatt, Ari Levine, Philip Lawrence along with Bruno Mars who sang it. It is an emotional ballad that details Mars’ pre-fame love, which he lost as he could not value it. The song tells how he now wishes that the man she has found takes good care of her. This number saw over 1,434,000 shares in May. This video moved up from 9th place in April to 8th place in May 2013.

 

9. Calvin Harris – I need your love ft. Ellie Goulding

The singer, Ellie Goulding, has received great reviews for the emotions displayed in this song. “I need your love” is a number created by DJ Calvin Harris. The video of this song depicts Goulding and Harris as a couple in a romantic relationship. It was shared over 1,385,000 times in May 2013.

10. Pumpcast News Part 1 – The Tonigth Show with Jay Leno

This wonderful couple that features in the Pumpcast News and later in Jay Leno’s Tonight Show will surely lift your spirits. The couple takes the gas pump singing challenge to a whole new level, enjoying it the entire time. The video experienced 1,241,000 shares in May 2013.
