Six Hotels You Should Check Out in Kuching

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There are quite a number of hotels in Kuching, ranging from boutique hotels and swanky 5-star establishments to rainforest resorts set in the wild Sarawakian jungles. No matter what your budget, we have listed six hotels in Kuching to ensure that your stay in the “Land of the Hornbills” will be a pleasant and satisfying one.

Luxury Hotels

1) Pullman Kuching

A 5-star establishment that has been receiving praise by guests and critics alike, Pullman Kuching continues to deliver satisfying experiences again and again. Even with a five-star rating, the hotel’s prices can often drop to the four-star price range, going at an average of about RM220 during off-peak seasons if you’re lucky.

Located near the riverside, famous landmarks, restaurant hotspots, and shops, it is a convenient place to stay at due to all the nearby amenities. Rooms have been described by guests – who have previously stayed there – as being spacious and roomy all while sporting great views of the cityscape. One of the downfalls is that rooms have no Wi-Fi connection.

Price Range: An average of RM200-300 per night for standard rooms

2) Hilton Kuching

Often mentioned as having one of the best locations for a hotel in Kuching, the local Hilton is situated right near the river, and all of the best bits that the city has to offer. Like the Pullman, Hilton has received favourable reviews from guests, although a number of them noted that some rooms need sprucing up due to aging and complacency.

That being said, amenities such as the pool and staff service were deemed excellent. One of the inconveniences that bothered lodgers was the lack of an in-room Wi-Fi connection, with the only option of having free Wi-Fi being in the downstairs hotel lobby and adjacent coffee bar.

Price Range: An average of RM300 per night for a standard Hilton King Guest Room.

3) Permai Rainforest Resort (Honourable Mention)

While not exactly luxurious by metropolitan standards, Permai Rainforest Resort receives honourable mention due to the fact that it is considered quite luxurious despite being situated in the heart of a rainforest. With different types of rooms to choose from (tree houses, cabins [both single story and double], and camping), guests will surely be delighted at night when sleeping to the sounds of the rainforest. There is also an on-site café to provide meals to guests as well as an extensive list of recreational activities either by the beach or in the jungle.

Those who wish to get in tune with Mother Nature should opt to stay here for a unique experience.

Price Range: An average of RM250 per night for a cabin accommodation in September according to agoda.com. Prices are seasonal so it is best to visit the website for up-to-date prices.

Value for Money Hotels

1) LimeTree Hotel Kuching

Although not a swanky five-star hotel, LimeTree Hotel Kuching continues to please many customers due to its value-for-money prices and experience. Many guests rave about their clean and comfortable rooms with excellent service and great amenities. They even have a rooftop bar and provide meal options for guests.

Some of the downfalls mentioned by guests include a slow Internet connection – even though the Internet service is free -, and the distance it takes to travel to the city centre as compared to other hotels such as Pullman and Hilton. Its incredible price, great service, and cleanliness make it an extremely viable option.

Price Range: An average of RM120-RM130+ for an average room.

2) Four Points Kuching By Sheraton

A tad more expensive than LimeTree, Four Points Kuching by Sheraton is also a touch fancier. The hotel provides a fitness centre, an outdoor 40-metre pool, nearby shopping, a smoke free environment, and free high speed Internet access to all hotel guests in all public areas. While there is a treasure trove of food waiting to be explored around Kuching city, the hotel also has three eateries for those who simply wish to relax indoors. Rooms are also tastefully decorated and cheerily designed, giving off a sense of brightness in a contemporary setting.

Price Range: An average of RM200+ for a Comfort Non-Smoking room with king size/ 2 bed options.

3) 360 Urban Resort Hotel Hock Lee Center

Giving LimeTree a run for its money is 360 Urban Resort Hock Lee Center. Situated right smack in the heart of Kuching, this affordable 3 star hotel features spacious rooms decorated with modern furnishings, free in-room Wi-Fi, a gym, a swimming pool, as well as an on-site café and shopping centre. Furthermore, one look at TripAdvisor will tell you that the hotel tends to receive more positive reviews than negative ones.

The hotel also features some great views to boot, boasting views of the riverfront and the distant Mount Santubong.

Price Range: An average of RM150 per night for the Deluxe Double Rooms.
