What brought you to Malaysia and how long have you been here?
For the past eight years Malaysia has been my top holiday destination. It always felt like home and since and when my company opened an office in KL, it gave my wife and I the opportunity to move here permanently. We took it without a second thought.

What do you like and dislike about living here?
I love the fact that Malaysian people smile with their hearts, not just to be polite. I also love the scenery here – lush jungles, warm seas, exotic animals and spectacular tropical flowers everywhere. Food is the most famous part of Malaysian heritage, which I obviously love.I don’t like that Kuala Lumpur is not a pedestrian-friendly city, and only caters to cars and motorbikes.

What is your favourite holiday destination in Malaysia or the region?
We like Kuala Terengganu for its unique original villages, food and endless strips of empty beaches. Perhentian, Tioman and Payar are islands we like to visit, and we also enjoy trips to Langkawi and Borneo.

What do you miss about your home country?
I miss snow and putting on my snowsuit and skies when January comes around. I also miss the arts and entertainment scene in London and St Petersburg, where there are always lots of plays and musicals to  watch.

How long do you plan to stay in Malaysia? Where will you go next?
I would like Malaysia to become my permanent home. It is warm, friendly, tasty, economically affordable and reasonably safe. I also enjoy travelling for business and pleasure around the region.

Is Malaysia a good place to work or do Business in?
Despite our company being from the UK, it has been an easy transformation for us as most of our clients are either UK citizens or expatriates in general. We also have Malaysian clients who own property in the UK, or have relatives living or children studying there. So yes, Malaysia is a good, easy and stress-free environment for business. Having an open mind always makes for positive experiences!
