Print Friendly, PDF & Email

2014 will see the entry of seven new shopping malls in the Klang Valley. Another five malls will be going through a refurbishment process to add more space to the retail property segment.

According to Foo Gee Jen, Managing Director of CH Williams Talhar & Wong Sdn Bhd, at least 20% of the urban population spend their weekends in shopping malls as shopping is a favourite past time for many in Malaysia. Although people may be a bit more cautious now what with the rising cost of living, the demand for basic essentials will remain the same.

The new malls to emerge this year and the ones being refurbished are:

  • The Strand
  • D’Pulze
  • Nu Sentral (formerly known as Lot G, KL Sentral)
  • Main Place (formerly Taipan Square/Newgate21)
  • Jaya Shopping Centre
  • Quill City Mall (formerly Vision City)
  • Sunway Pyramid Phase 3
  • M Square
  • The Atria
  • Sunway Velocity Lifestyle Mall
  • Sunway Putra Mall (formerly known as The Mall)
  • CapSquare Mall
  • IOI City Mall (expected to come in next year)
