From the practice rooms of NYU to the colossal stage at The American Music Awards, New York pop singer-songwriter duo A Great Big World are now bringing their uplifting melodies to the people of KL. Their debut album Is Anybody Out There, featuring hits like “Rockstar”, “Say Something” and “Already Home”, has generated worldwide applause.

College friends Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino formed the band in 2012, releasing a six-track EP funded by Kickstarter, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. “This Is the New Year” became an instant viral sensation, attracting the attention of Fox’s Glee who performed the track in the twelfth episode of season four. Soon after, the two friends were offered a record deal.

A Great Big World has also gained the support of pop legend, Christina Aguilera. After hearing their hypnotic performance of “Say Something” on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, she wrote to the duo expressing a wish to work with them. “We got this email from her that was written like a poem about the song,” Axel recalls. “She told us that she wanted to work with us, and we were completely floored. We couldn’t believe it.” Shortly after, the band sang with Aguilera on NBC’s The Voice. This version of “Say Something” shot to #1 on iTunes.
