Global Legends Series in Malaysia Expected to Feature Footballers Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and More

The Global Legends Series (GLS) will take place in December this year, in Kuala Lumpur, and will feature a handful of football legends.

Footballers such as Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and more are expected to play in the series.  A full list of players expected to play can be viewed here.

Michael Owen was a former striker for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City. He is the son of former football player Terry Owen.  At just 34 years old, he is regarded as one of the “greatest Liverpool players” and was featured in the official Liverpool fan poll, “100 Players Who Shook the Kop” at No.14.

Robbie Fowler is a former player for Liverpool, Leeds United, Manchester City and a few others. He is known as the sixth-highest goal scorer in the history of the Premier League.

Steve McManaman is a former player for Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City. His position included midfielder, winger and playmaker. McManaman is the first English player to win the EUFA Champions League with a non-English club (he was with Read Madrid from 1999) in the year 2000. He was also the first English player to win the Champions League twice.

The GLS is an even that brings together a group of legendary football players from around the world to play against each other in a LEGENDS Vs LEGENDS four game series in different cities across the world. The player criteria to qualify for the Global Legends Series is to have – Won World Cup / European Championships / Champions League or have 50 appearances for their country. The GLS aims to raise awareness for the official GLS charities and for the charities and foundations of the football legends playing. The Series also helps to raise funds for certain projects, conduct youth development programmes and give fans the opportunity to see their football idols in action.
