The Expat Penang Mingle at Farquhar Mansion

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Farquhar Mansion was the setting for the recent Expat Penang/IWA Mingle. Farquhar Mansion is part of the recently renovated Mission House Complex and so it’s a great heritage setting but is also the home of some of the finest food in Penang. The finger buffet served at the Mingle matched the Mansion’s already high reputation as a place of fine dining. We enjoyed delights such as duck breast with mango salsa, cod fish ball, lamb pie, smoked salmon puff, and tomato bruschetta. All were in delicious bite-sized morsels which could be enjoyed as one mingled. The desserts also were exceptional – little taster portions of panna cotta, crème brûlée, and gateaux. Quite a number of people said they would be coming back to sample a meal. The wine was supplied by La Puerta and it was from Argentina. The white wine was Torrontes and the red wine was Malbec.

There was a good crowd – some familiar faces and some new ones. The President of the IWA, Marlene Martin, volunteered to take the photographs for the evening and quite a few other members of the IWA also attended with respective spouses and significant others.

One of the nice things about Farquhar House is that as well as its elegant reception space, it also has good seating areas outdoors and many minglers availed themselves of this. Mingles are over all too soon, so it’s as well that there is another mingle planned for 6 November at Santai Bistro, Batu Ferringhi, just opposite the Rasa Sayang.
